About
Us
Health
Care For All-Santa Cruz is the local chapter of Health
Care for All-California, a state-wide grassroots working to provide
universal single-payer health insurance for all Californians. We are
volunteers who have had enough of our failing health care system. Our
members come from all walks of life--doctors, nurses, students, workers,
parents, and retirees.
What
do we do?
California’s
health insurance system is in crisis. Over 6 million uninsured
Californians can’t afford the medical care they need, skyrocketing
premiums are unaffordable for workers and businesses alike, and most
insurance policies will not protect families from financial ruin. This is
how big insurance is reaping banner profits.
We
live in the only industrialized nation that doesn’t guarantee healthcare
for all its citizens—a problem that cannot be fixed with cosmetic
surgery. The solution is to provide
universal single-payer health insurance for
all Californians.
Right
now we are working to educate the public and contact our lawmakers to
support California
SB-840, the California Universal Healthcare Act.
Within our website, you'll find lots of information about how and why our
health care system is failing us, how a universal single-payer system
would fix these problems, and—most importantly—what you can do to
help.
